Milwaukee MX Fuel 14-Inch Cut-Off Saw MXF315 - Pro Tool Reviews

Professional Tool Reviews for Pros

Back in 2019, Milwaukee released its first battery-powered cut-off saw on the MX Fuel platform. Now that battery-powered technology is no longer as novel a concept, Milwaukee’s latest MX Fuel Cut-Off Saw improved upon some pain points and added a few new safety features. We’re looking at what else this tool has to offer over the previous iteration. Mobile Bandsaw

The Milwaukee MXF315 cut-off saw has the same performance as a 14-inch gas-powered cut-off saw. Its 4.9-inch cutting depth allows it to slice through materials like concrete, rebar, and ductile iron.

As a battery-powered tool, you can safely use it both indoors and outdoors and eliminate the fumes and maintenance that come with gas machines.

Compared to Milwaukee’s previous cut-off saw on the MX Fuel platform, the MXF315 raises the bar in the safety department. It’s equipped with a RapidStop brake, which stops blade rotation in less than three seconds, and AutoStop Kickback Control that shuts off the saw automatically if it senses severe kickback.

The Milwaukee MXF315 cut-off saw boasts some impressive runtimes that up the ante compared to the previous model. When you use both XC8.0 batteries included in the kit, here are some runtime estimates you can expect (remember to halve the numbers for single-battery use):

Not to mention, the XC8.0 batteries fully charge in as little as 45 minutes with the kitted MX Fuel Super Charger, so in theory, your runtime is endless when cycling through both batteries.

This cut-off saw weighs 29.6 pounds bare, which shaves off around 2.5 pounds compared to the previous iteration. As a battery-powered tool, a push-button start lets you activate the tool in seconds, eliminating the need to fiddle with pull cords.

Like the last model, the MXF315 lets you hook up a hose to the quick-connect water port to supply water evenly to both sides of the blade. This minimizes dust when cutting masonry and ensures the blade stays cool while you work.

Other design features include guide wheels for smoother cutting, an adjustable blade guard, and onboard tool storage for the scrench and hex key.

This tool retails for $1,499 as a bare tool and $2,999 as a kit, including two MX Fuel RedLithium Forge XC8.0 batteries, an MX Fuel Super Charger, and a 14-inch Diamond Ultra segmented blade. Milwaukee backs your purchase with a 2-year warranty on both the tool and the batteries.
