Protective Equipment Manufacturer’s Appeal of Glove Tariff Fails

Magid Glove & Safety Manufacturing Co. failed to convince a federal appeals court that the tariff classification of its knit gloves with partial plastic coating was wrong.

The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Thursday said the gloves were properly classified under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule’s section related to knitted gloves since the textile was knitted and only the exterior had a plastic coating.

Magid said the gloves should be subjected to sections related to articles of plastic and articles of apparel and clothing accessories.
